Well written and intriguing; I was engaged from the start! We meet Beck just as Abbie does - in small bits at a time. The realization of who he is to her is revealed slowly and creates an intimate pace that allows us to connect to the characters and learn their stories. As the world Abbie thought she knew is revealed to her through Beck’s eyes, she comes to understand her connection to him was designed by fate.Theology and mythology come together, and Beck’s explanations for things happening around Abbie add depth to the plot. One of the lines I liked the most was in Chapter 7. It reads, “Many myths, and especially those about angels, are based on some fact. Native Americans believe that animals with different colored eyes, like some dogs have one blue and one brown, can see both Heaven and earth.” What a wonderful thought, not only that there are Guardian Angels, but that our pets could be part of the combined force that keeps us safe.
This was a wonderful addition to my Young Adult library, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series!

I sat down to read it and couldn't put it down. It flowed well and kept me engrossed from the beginning. Can't wait to read the next one!
This book reminded me a bit of various vampire series and the good vs. evil. I think the angel characters are thoughtfully developed, along with the chimera. I'd definitely suggest giving it a try and I'm looking forward to Book 2!
Excellent story where good and evil are battling in a thrilling ride. I found it very interesting how the author wove mythology and reality together. Another high point for this novel is the characters that I loved and the humor too! If you enjoy fantasy, this will be a page turner for you.
This was certainly a great page turner, which held my attention from beginning to end.
The author did an excellent job in conveying the message of good vs. evil, without making the story an overly toned religious read. The characters were all well developed and believable, in a story that captivates!
I highly recommend this to YA and above. And, I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
I happened upon this book through a book club, and am so glad I did! I was not sure at first about the topic of angels and demons, and wondered if it might be overbearingly religious. My concerns were completely unfounded. Religion is touched on, but not in a "this is the way" sense. More in a true-to-life way - some people follow some religions and are very faithful, others aren't, and there are no clear paths.
The characters were really likable, and the author has made what could be a very unrealistic situation seem completely believable. There is romance, adventure and humor in a really well-written Good vs Evil storyline. I read this book in about two days, which is very fast for me, and immediately purchased the next installment. I will look for more books by C.M. Gray.
This is an enjoyable book to read. It is a different take on reincarnation. It draws you in from the start and doesn’t let you go. You learn the truth about what is going on as the main character does. The individual characters are interesting and the story flows well. There are no boring parts that you can’t figure out why they are there, but it isn’t so fast paced that you miss bits. It ends in a way that closes the first part of the story while leaving enough open to make you want to read more.
The reason I am not giving this five stars is, firstly, it seemed a little short to me, but mainly it is the formatting. The paragraphs are not indented so, reading it on , there are times when you don’t know that a new paragraph has started, making it hard to follow who is speaking. However, you should not let this put you off. Give this book a go and you won’t regret it. I will definitely be reading more in this series.
I absolutely LOVED this book! I couldn't put it down. I lost sleep over this amazingly written story. C.M. Gray did a fantastic job with the execution of this heart wrenching, edge of your seat, page turner. It was beautifully written and edits done were phenomenal. It made for a fantastically smooth read that sucked you right into the story.
The characters and their development were GREAT! I absolutely loved Beck and Abbie. True love at its finest! I loved that Abbie was the perfect main female lead. She wasn't too naive or too whiny. She was mentally strong and relied on logic and facts to make conclusive decisions for herself. It was a great character to relate to and fall in love with. and Beck! All I can say is wow. He was a great main male lead role. His protectiveness over Abbie was no where near borderline psychotic. It was the perfect amount of protective possession that made you feel the depth of his love for Abbie without becoming obsessive. Great job on their developments!
